Definitely a great piece. The importance of not being constrained by what industry knowledge says “won’t work” is something I think is particularly important. In fast evolving industries like music and movies, for example, it’s key to stave off these negative assumptions precisely because they can shadow one’s eye from the larger trends that are taking place.

The founder factor is also a massive thing to consider. Near obsession with one’s product and/or industry is vital to break through the mold and find the drive necessary to make the big leap. Otherwise, you become too distracted with the little defeats instead of focusing on the larger looming victories.
